Leaving a WhatsApp group can be a daunting task, especially if you don’t want to draw attention to your departure. However, there is a simple way to leave a WhatsApp group without notifying the other members.
Method 1: Leaving from the Group Chat
- Open the WhatsApp app and locate the group chat you want to leave.
- Tap on the group name at the top of the screen.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the group info page and tap on “Exit Group.”
- A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm your decision. Tap on “Exit Group” again to confirm. This will let you know that only admins in the group will be notified
Method 2: Leaving from the Chats List
- Open the WhatsApp app and locate the group chat you want to leave.
- Swipe left on the group chat until three options appear.
- Tap on “More” from the three options.
- Select “Exit Group” from the menu.
- A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm your decision. Tap on “Exit Group” again to confirm. This will let you know that only admins in the group will be notified
Additional Tips
- Make sure you are not the group administrator. If you are the group administrator, you will need to appoint someone else as the administrator before you can leave the group.
- Do not leave the group and then immediately rejoin. This will send a notification to the group that you have rejoined.
- If you are worried about someone noticing your absence, you can mute the group instead of leaving it. This will prevent you from receiving notifications from the group, but you will still be able to see the messages if you open the group chat.
